I woke up today thinking about the book I have written called Love, Care and Share.

I was remembering something many people have said to me during book signings and others in my life who have read this book. There was a common comment that I have heard, “This book needs to be shared. After reading this book it should be passed on to another.”

I have thought about why this has been said so often and wondered if there is something bigger at work here. Opening the computer to start my day I was delighted to see another review of this book roll in.

I share it with you now:

My name is Brittney! We met at my mom’s house (Rachel) in Georgetown about two weeks ago.

You were kind enough to give a copy of your book to both my brother Chase and myself.

I wanted to let you know I just finished the book. I have to share with you my experience of reading your book while it’s still fresh.

First off, I have to tell that I have carried your book with me everywhere I went since you gave it to me. I would read it whenever I could, even if it was half a page while I waited in line at the store. I have not felt this way about a book in a very long time. My purse quickly became its home, as it followed me everywhere I went.

I could feel the essence of your mom throughout every letter in the page. I wanted to continue feeling her, to continue getting to know her, to continue feeling inspired by her. I felt a certain comfort and warmth as I read each page. I began to feel like I couldn’t wait to ‘meet with her again’ every evening in anticipation of reading her story.

Despite not knowing Margie, I feel I felt her through your words. She sounds and feels like an incredible woman, whose presence profoundly impacted everyone she encountered by just being herself.

I wanted to thank you from the center of my heart for speaking with me at the end of my mom’s driveway and giving me a copy of your book that day.  I have experienced many shifts within as a result of reading Love, Care and Share. I have been able to find the courage to let go of some heaviness I have been carrying around for a very long time. I feel as if I’m starting a brand new chapter of my life with fresh eyes, and a lighter heart after finishing the book.

Thank you so much again, Tom! I have no doubt meeting you at my mom’s that day was a Godincidence your mom also helped facilitate.

As I read this review I became aware of another thought. Could it be that when you offer a gift to another

  • It is in the intent of this act that offers the receiver a fresh, new experience?
  • One that includes the emotion of receiving kindness?
  • Is it in the offering of a gift that there is a different energy attached to the experience for the receiver?
  • Something that does not involve expectation or the desire to “get my money’s worth”?

I think it is all of these things.

Bring Out the Joy in Every Moment

I also believe that there is a feeling/emotion attached to a gift that indicates a connection that is being honored and expressed.

Think about the last time you received a gift, say, for your birthday or Christmas, but let’s take it one step further and ask when was the last time you received a gift just because someone was thinking of you?

There is a connection that is constant between you and the people in your life! Honor it with action.

I have a suggestion for you: If you think about someone in your life you have not seen for quite awhile, more than two times, pick up the phone and call them.
